Gyöngyö Imre műfordítása - Percy Bysshe Shelley: Ozymandias
Egy ős ország utasa mondta el:
a homokban két óriási láb,
s előttük ,lent viharvert arc hever
s az ajka mintegy parancsot kiált:
A ránc vicsora így mutatja meg!
Dühét s művésze jól szoborta át,
azt őrzik még a málló, holt kövek,
mit szobrász keze szíve, gúnya ád.
A talapzatba vésett, rótt szöveg:
Ozimandiász főkirály nevem:
Hatalmasok, kétségbe essetek
az oszlás, romlás láttán művemen!
Az óriási roncs így szétesett.
Körül magány, homok, sík végtelen.

Ozymandias
(by Percy Bysshe Shelley)
I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert... Near them on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold commánd,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed:
And on the pedestal these words appear:
my name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my words, ye Mighty and despair!
Nothing besides remains. Round the decay
of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare.
The lone and level sand stretch far away.
